The candle
in hand
It’s burning for several minutes
I cup its warmth
Stings but
I clasp and
Bring my hands close to my nose
It’s fragrant
Soap runs down
A flame so fragrant it’s soap
A flame so fragrant it dissolves
Like butter and sticks like wax
A flame runs down my hands
Burns the tip of my nose
I cup

Letter to talk business
Dear Mr.
What’s it like to work with two of your wives?
Where one lacks you point out the other
Young skin comes in and notices your yellow scarf
She’s it
Next time she comes in
The garden is for her eyes
You give her a tour and you stand together
Infront of a mirror
Infinite reflections
The air is clear there is no friction
Then what is it?
About you not wanting to be her father
No amour
No unexplored potential
You’ve lived, you’ve done it all
Why have you plucked her?
Mr. you trust yourself vision and all
Garden and all with trees that grow two floors
A tree grows two floors to the rooftop
She plucks the flower from the rooftop in spring
You sweep the flowers in the garden
They stain the floor if kept
Enchantment at first then?
But the air is damp
And the weather is getting warmer
She walks into the garden with shorter dresses and
With her breasts out now
You need to clear the air
You don’t sit on the round table where the chair is closer
You sit in the middle of the room
On a table that extends
Facing her
Now you’re 3 now you’re 5 and
She’s still there
Somehow your chairs are close again
She’s head first in her notebook
Not interested in you Mr.
Your wife sits across from you
And you’re complimenting this girl on the table who wraps the conversation
So you need to clear the air
Yeah?
You say she’s a genius she has wit she has potential
And you talk about the birds at sunset how they start chirping thinking the world is over
And you serve food in ceramic plates
And you stall the conversation until there are
3-5 people on the table,
Enchanting
And you ask for the workers outside to shut up because your garden will have to close down
What if they were noisy the whole of the summer
Then you would have to close down
It’s all business talk

Pooling, a mushy entanglement
Pooling, a mushy entanglement
Place of heart
Hear, here
The clanking of a scoop, about to excavate,
This longing
Thorough, spillage guaranteed
But plugged into vitals
In case this violence is too soft to pass
Breach: like a waiting room de-situates
You arrive to your appointment
In the bathroom
Heart in cup
Paste in tooth
Hair frazzled
You poke
It’s mushy where it’s supposed to be empty.
Maybe someone had mercy
Breach of code.

There’s an exhibitionist in the building
One must wonder what it all means
and then lessen words because breath isn’t infinite
It’s amusing to say the least
If words are ever cut short, there’s language in other things.
There’s a chair facing the window
submerged in the shadows
you can see the back of it
is it claustrophobic?
lots of space, that’s what unnerves me
I seek the doorway.
There’s an exhibitionist in the building
legs open for a peering world
the moon enlarged at her sighting
windows in the exhaust
open for slight breeze
cars driving away from potholes
she’s someone’s daughter–
It emptied me, that I was capable of fast depth, of connection that superseded me, one that I sometimes earned and other times was granted, but could not sustain. —
The only counter I have to utter ego death is using obsolete words
Why else am I around you?
I’ll leech words off of you
God, I’d love it if you stole all that from me
before I forget how to speak.
She plasters her fee on the elevator’s bulletin, next to other bills like maintenance.
You can hear the highway from the apartment
Lights on, lights off, lights reflective, lights bouncing
Will you not meet my eyes at all?
I keep hanging onto something you said
about picking up where words leave off
I’m made of words, the point of cut-off burns itself into my head, I’m not sure when I have or will hit it.
I could see your living room
I enlarge my eyes like I could engulf you
I’d rather never speak with myself than run out of words with somebody else.
